Giving at Chase

“The generosity and sacrificial giving over the years has enabled us to support our leaders and mission at home and abroad”.

Tithing is the practice of giving 10% of one’s income to the Lord and is mentioned throughout the Old Testament. (Leviticus 27:30-31 and Malachi 3:10). It’s a great habit to adopt if you are able – the premise is to give back to God the first 10% of your income as a way of thanking Him for all he’s given you.

Sowing and Reaping: In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he reminds us that how much we give impacts how much is reaped but also our attitude to giving matters too – “Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

The Early Church: The book of Acts gives us a picture of what the early church was like: “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to the number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:44-47)

The main principle behind tithing and giving is that what we do with our money shows where our heart is. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)

Giving is a way of thanking and honouring God for all that He has given us, and in turn it blesses and grows the church. At Chase Family Church, we believe that no one should feel pressured to give financially and we also believe that giving doesn’t just apply to money.

How do we use your financial giving?

•  Mission – We support a number of missionaries around the world – blessing them through prayer and financial gifts.

•  Outreach – We reach out to our local community in a variety of different ways during the year, one particular way is through our Serve Enfield week of mission where we join with other local churches to train and equip people in mission and evangelism and then send them out to bless our community and share the Gospel.

• Church Ministries – We have a number of groups, events and courses that meet during the week. Your giving means we can provide the resources they need.

• Staff – We employ six members of staff (some full time, some part time) to help us with the day to day running of the church and deliver our various church ministries.

• The Centre – There are costs involved with running any building, your giving helps with the upkeep of the centre.
