Where is the mission?
We will be based at the Lebanon Evangelical School for Boys and Girls (LES) in Loueizeh, on the outskirts of Beirut. Established over 150 years ago, LES has an evangelical Christian foundation. Most of the students are Muslim, there are also students from both Druze and Christian families. The staff at the school include evangelical Christians (both Lebanese and teachers from Europe and America) who have been working hard to support the Christian students and uphold the Christian foundation of the school. Two of the staff at the school are Andie and Sue Frost - a couple from Chase Family Church. Andie has been taking mission teams to the school since 2001, and in 2017 Andie and Sue moved to Lebanon live and work in the school.
What will we be doing on the mission?
We will be leading the staff prayers in the morning, followed by two assemblies. We are also teaching a Bible lesson throughout the week to several year groups – a class at a time.
During break and lunch times, we will be in the playground chatting with the students – these are the times when students can engage with us and ask questions.
On Saturday 25th April, we have been asked to lead the children’s work at Andie & Sue’s church – there will be a mixture of Syrian refugees, Lebanese and missionary children attending.
Who are the team?
There are eleven of us going to Lebanon – the team is made up of the year out students from Encounter and Pathway, and some members of Chase Family Church. The trip will be led by Suz & Pete Tidey from Chase.
