Connections

Another week with two videos.  Not child deveopment or children's workers this time, but about connecting with others and social media.  The first video looks at the need we have to connect to the people around us and to God.  Some of the statistics in this are fascinating and underly my view that the church needs to be involved in social media.  Facebook, Twitter and the other social media sites are the new marketplace where we can share the story of Jesus.  Having said that, I like the way this video places reminds us that connection with people and God is more important than the technology.

The second looks at some of the downsides of our technology driven society and social media addiction.  It's great to see churches involved in ministry in this area too.  However, let's keep a balance, social media is just a technology of itself neither good not evil.  It will no doubt be superceeded at some point, but it's how we use it now that counts.
