The River Trip
On 1st October 41 people went on a river trip from Broxbourne to Dobbs Weir.
The weather was glorious and couldn’t have been better.
It was very spacious on board and it was a joy to see all sorts of wild life on the river bank and on the water swans, ducks and moor-hens, all making themselves known.
We saw Skiffs with young men and women at the oars rowing with all their might and others going at a more leisurely pace in paddle boats. Best of all was the sight of the long boats, brightly decorated with designs of all kinds, and pots of flowers adorning the tops.
The other thing we enjoyed was seeing the stunning homes with beautiful gardens that reached the banks of the river.
At lunchtime we had hot jacket potatoes cooked to perfection with lots of different fillings to choose from or ploughman’s lunch.
It was great fun and we all wished it could have lasted longer.
