Reach the World

This weeks video is a call to evangelism in Europe.  However, that was not the reason I selected it for inclusion in my video spot.  While watching this video it reminded me of the difference between religion and a living relationship with God.  Personally, I have no time for religion. I see no value in performing rituals, making sacrifices, repeating formulaic prayers, in sacred statues (or idols), candles or incense.  All these trappings of organized religion can become substitutes for what is really important, which is the personal knowledge of the living God. 

Someone at work was saying to me last week that it's easy to be a Christian, all you have to do is believe.  Sometimes we present Christianity that way and in doing so I think we misrepresent what it is all about.  Being a Christian is about coming into a new life that is born out the death of Jesus on our behalf and a total commitment of our lives to him.  Yes it's free gift, no you cannot do anything to earn it, but it will cost you everything.  Is it worth it?  Definitely.
