Mission Week - Holiday Club

Kawabunga dudes!  Surfs up!

Or at least it was for the kids and leaders at 'On the Beach!', Chase's own 2 day holiday club at the end of July.  A mad mix of activities, on a beach holiday theme!

Each morning the children arrived on the beach to 'free play' activities around the hall.  Holiday ClubLike magnetic fishing, world map twister, beach balls, and funsheets.  This was swiftly followed by 'Beach Boys' surfy warm ups - "watch out for the big wave!", and a very loud action song to get everyone going!
Then there were beach and fishy theme games.  Everyone was more than ready for a drink and snack after that - especially in the very hot weather both inside and out!
Holiday Club1Jamie and Mick led interactive Bible stories, looking at Jesus calming the storm on the first day (wind, waves and real water!) and the miraculous catch (and we all now know that "its always better to fish at night, 'cause fish don't like the sunlight"!!).

We got creative making Mary's fantastic buckets and spades to put God's promises in. And flags - like those you put on a sandcastle, except praising Jesus!

The morning rounded off with a beachtastic quick game, and praying.  Last but not least, there was a final chance for more loud and frantic action songs - the number depending mainly on Pippa's energy levels as the kids could have gone on all afternoon!  'Jesus you're my Superhero' was the 'On the Beach!' favourite request!  A highlight was Anna's Actionman impression and Martin's 'Barbie' pose (unfortunately no photos, sorry!).Holiday Club2

Even the parents and carers had a chance to enjoy the on site beach cafe 'floating' upstairs in the hall (thank you to Martin and helpers for providing this).
Holiday Club3As the tide finally came in, children and adults went home exhausted, but very happy. Ready to 'catch the wave' another day!

I want to especially thank all those who gave their time to help, both in prep and on the day - much, much appreciated!
